What Is Copywriting?
Copywriting is the process of writing online content, ad copy, social media posts, slogans. Unlike news or editorial writing, copywriting is all about getting the reader to take action. That action might be to purchase, opt-in, or engage with a product, service, or company.
Copywriting is what ties it all together elements of design, SEO, and content marketing on a digital marketing plan. So copywriting is anything you write for a business and everything you write helps make a sale, in some way.
In many ways, it’s like hiring one salesman to reach all of your customers. Writing better copy enables you to convert more readers into customers.
Unlike the traditional copywriting approach which focuses on bragging about how cool your company is to get the direct sale. Nowadays, copy writing is more about getting customers to want to engage with you….not spamming them with offers. Generously giving something valuable to the person….not just “greedily asking” for stuff.
What Is Copywriting?
Here is a real life example: Uber email copywriting shows “unique uses” of the service. This pops the idea into their brain the alternate uses of Uber service and helps them make decisions about my vehicle situation.
The following is some basic key points to write an effective copywriting:
- Understanding the Product and Focus on One “Unique/Special about this product”. Think about what makes the product stand out from the competitor brand. You have to know exactly what you want to emphasize to create the best selling points.
- Know who your customers are as you have to make sure that your copy fits the needs of your audience. You might want to create a buyer persona for your potential customers and all your messaging sales copy should focus on that persona.
- Write attention-grabbing headlines. This one should come as no surprise. Writing good headlines is one of the most important ways to get attention. As your audience browses the web, the headline might be the only thing they read.
- Prioritize the values of your product. Main purpose of sales copy is a hook to garner interest and drive action. You’re better off getting directly to the benefits they’ll get to see. Tell them about the results all of those features are going to lead to.
- The last one is “End with a strong call to action”( shortly called CTA). A call to action should be easy to identify and give some perspective on what is going to happen when a potential buyer clicks on it.
